With two more clues to go we now have a winner in the Guess The Mystery Fly game. The winner will be named at the Blue River Fly Classic and will receive one of Fishpond's latest tools. It's a pretty cool little tippet holder called the Headgate.
Clue #5 would have read: It could be said the Mystery Fly is "storied".

I recently came across Drifting The Prairie Ocean Outdoor Journal after watching and enjoying Fly Fishing For Carp. I usually fly fish for trout but recently in the summer months I've been going after carp. I got my first on a fly a few days ago in a local billabong that holds some huge carp. Here in Australia, carp are declared a noxious pest and are supposed to be not returned to the water. They are blamed for so many things most of which they aren't responsible. As much as I like trout fishing, I now have a soft spot and admiration for the fighting ability and adaptability of these fish. Oh, my carp slipped out of my hands before I was able to dispatch it--wink, wink! Enjoyed the video very much and the site.

Fly fishing for carp is extremely addictive Steve. Hope you enjoy every minute of it.
I'm sure that I will enjoy my future carp outings. I caught my carp on a floating foam dragon fly nymph after trying a heap of sinking flies like the Woolly Bugger, Woolly Worm, Muddler Minnows and Hamills Killer. The carp were taking beetles that were falling out of the overhanging wattle trees. The surface take and following explosion was amazing. I might see if I can obtain some of the carp flies that you show in your video.
